My Angel
Dear Friends,
Let me introduce My Angel, Angela is my adopted daughter, whom I raised since birth.
She is my paternal niece who was born into this world with medical issues having
suffered from a stroke at birth or during childbirth. Because of her level of care
and other family issues her paternal family became legal guardians of her. This
eventually led to my adopting her because I wanted her to feel that she belonged
to a family. We provided Angela with all the assistance she needed at home. I
wanted her upbringing to be as "normal" as possible and tried my best to accomplish
this.
After several struggles with school and countless interventions to finally get the
appropriate school setting for her, it came the time of her graduation and with
that my next hurtle would be what will Angela do with the rest of her life, especially
when she can no longer attend school and as a single parent, I need to work. Thankfully,
the Arc of Hudson County helped me with this issue and Angela now attends their
Day program. This is a very difficult transition for Angela, however she is doing
fine in the program and I can have some piece of mind at work, knowing that she
is cared for.
This is why is so important to support the programs and services of The Arc of Hudson
County. Angela has been a joy to have and I have learned so much about life and
myself by being with her. The human brain is so unique and interesting that watching
her develop and mature has been such an enlightening experience. Angela is my little
angel who makes me feel so special and blessed, that I thank God for this precious
jewel.
