The Adult Day Program fulfills a need in
Hudson
County for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that might otherwise be at home with minimal if any community interaction.
It is our goal that we continue to strive for each consumer to be involved in a paid/ volunteer position within their community either through individual or group placement.
In addition, the program empowers individuals with disabilities to achieve goals that focus on community awareness and daily life skills.
The Adult Day Program is currently serving 24 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Hudson County area. The program is staffed with four full-time Technicians, one Assistant Supervisor and a Supervisor. This staffing configuration enables us to have a 6:1 participant/staff ratio. An on-call technician and the program Supervisors are utilized to fill in for absent staff to ensure proper program coverage.
These activities include but are not limited to:
Recreation (bowling, swimming, cooking, picnicking….)
Shopping (paying, taking change, comparing items….)
Exercise (walking, safety training….)
Appropriate community interaction (ex; thank you, please, excuse me, your welcome ….)
Appropriate dress (weather related) and hygiene
Interacting with non-disabled individuals within the community
and Self-Advocacy
